Kathy, a middle-aged woman, lives in a farm in the State of New York with her forgiving husband and her extended family: hundreds of fowl, which she treats like next of kin. When an animal rescue organization interferes, taking the case to court on the basis of the animals’ improper living conditions, Kathy’s life derails. The portrait of a romantic, yet quirky, hermit unfolds into a deeply moving ode to the unique human-animal relation that often exceeds the borders of law, civilization, or the so-called “common” sense.
